| Hope For The Nations |
An Introduction to Hope for the NationsHope for the Nations (HFTN) Children’s Charity was established in 2002 to help meet the needs of destitute children in Sub Sahara Africa. Hope for the Nations is a registered charity in the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.
We have a passion and calling to make a difference in the lives of God’s children, following God’s mandate to feed, clothe and provide the poor with shelter Isaiah 58:7.
Our goal is to rescue orphans from poverty, slavery, famine, sickness, prostitution, or the street and welcome them into one of our family homes where they are loved, nurtured and provided with everything they need to grow and reach their full potential. As our mottos says
Today’s Orphans
Tomorrow’s Leaders
Children are the single most exploited people group on the planet today. An ancient Chinese proverb says, “A nation walks on the fragile feet of its children”.
Jesus Christ told us, “Unless you become as a child, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.”
So why has the issue of children become so important, just look at global statistics.
According to the UN the world’s population has passed the 6 billion mark. Over half of those people are under the age of 15 and of these, 2 billion live in dire poverty.
This means that a 1/3 of the world’s population is made up of impoverished children. We refer to these children as “Children at Risk”. At risk of what?
It is time that things changed. It is time that we stand up and say “no more”. In the words of Martin Luther King Jr. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere”. And nowhere is there more injustice than in the world of children. We believe that we are starting a process of change with regards to helping children at risk.
We believe in coalition, and continually work to develop our partnerships and international networks in order to continue the efficiency of our efforts.
Our Values
Servant heart · Excellence in everything we do · Integrity · Respect for one another · Gender equity · Working in partnership · Operating through relationship
In summary we believe that to serve the poor and save children at risk is high on God’s agenda.
The United Nations has determined that children have 9 fundamental rights of which they should be assured: · Love and security · Food · Survival and development · Parental care · A decent place to live · Health & health services · Protection from abuse · Education · Rest and leisure.
At Hope for the Nations we ensure that all of the children in our care are assured these rights and that above all they are assured if a Hope and a Future, with the knowledge that they are God's children and that they are loved.
